A Mother’s Day Weekend in Sedona: The Perfect Girls’ Getaway

Sedona is truly one of those places that takes your breath away—and it made the perfect setting for a Mother’s Day weekend escape! I planned a relaxing and adventure-filled trip for a group of seven moms and daughters, and it absolutely delivered. Just a quick and easy 2-hour drive from the Phoenix area, Sedona feels like a whole different world.

Where We Stayed

We rented a cozy Airbnb near the Bell Rock Vortex, which made for a peaceful base away from the crowds—though it’s worth noting that traffic into downtown Sedona is almost always heavy, so plan extra travel time if you want to explore the town.

The house was ideal for our group: it featured a private indoor pool and jacuzzi (major win!), a separate living space on one side of the home—great for multi-family groups—and a fully stocked kitchen that allowed us to cook dinner each night. We loved the balance of hanging out together and having space to spread out when needed.

Hiking the Bell Rock Vortex

We decided to hike the Bell Rock Vortex, and while we never quite figured out where the actual “vortex” was (you’re not alone if you’re confused—we asked several people on the trail and no one seemed to know either 😂), the trail was stunning and well worth it.

Tip: Arrive early if you want to snag a parking spot—this is a popular spot for good reason! Along the way, we discovered a beautiful rock formation shaped like a half moon where we stopped to soak in the scenery. It was a perfect moment of calm and connection.

Other Sedona Must-Dos

If you’re heading to Sedona for a weekend, here are a few things I’d recommend:

  • Explore downtown Sedona for cute shops and unique finds
  • Choose a hike that suits your energy level—there’s something for everyone, from beginner to advanced
  • Catch a sunset from the Sedona Airport Overlook—the views are next-level
  • Soak in the peaceful desert vibes that make Sedona feel so magical

Final Thoughts

If you get the chance to plan a weekend getaway—especially with your mom, daughter, or girlfriends—Sedona is the perfect place. Whether you’re hiking red rocks, stargazing in the backyard, or just sharing laughs over a glass of wine, this destination brings out something special.
